Clemo Books is delighted to welcome Cornish author and bookseller Ronnie Turner to discuss and celebrate the publication of her second novel Small Fires, on Thursday 13 March, 7pm. A literary folk horror set in Cornwall and Scotland, Small Fires has been described as Midsommar meets Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber!
When sisters Lily and Della Pedley are persecuted for the murder of their parents, they flee to a nameless island in Scotland where no one is safe. The community live in strange isolation, afraid of a figure known only as the Warden. With strange midnight rites and an annual festival drawing nigh, the sisters realise they have come to a place where nothing is as it seems, where dark folklore simmers under land. Can the sisters survive the island? And can the island survive the sisters?
